UK shale: a 'vital' role in the energy sector

The fragile state of the UK's energy security has recently been uncovered by the 'Beast from the East'. Leading shale explorer, Egdon Resources, claims that British shale has a 'vital' role to play in the development of renewable energy. 

During the so-called 'deep freeze' in March, there was soaring demand for gas which increased prices. However, the National Grid warns that Britain does not have the sufficient supplies to meet high demands. The shale business is facing a large amount of opposition, though it is simultaneously experiencing  'considerable traction', according to Egdon chairman, Phillip Stephens.
